As we say goodbye to summer and officially welcome fall, October is a great month to find some frightfully good deals on everything from pizza to Halloween treats! Here are five of the best things to buy this month!
1. Pizza

October is National Pizza Month! Expect to see special promotions and great discounts throughout the month at places like Domino’s, Papa Johns, and Pizza Hut, as well as your local pizzerias.
2. Seafood

October is also National Seafood Month. Expect to see savings throughout the seafood aisle — fish, shrimp, scallops, and even crab and lobster.
3. Baking Supplies

With fall officially underway, October can oftentimes feel like the month that transitions us into the holiday mindset. To this end, you can expect to see sales on sugar, chocolate chips, pie crusts and filling, evaporated and condensed milk, and canned pumpkin, as baking season starts to pick up.
4. Toys

Big box retailers will begin massive markdowns on many of their toys to clear shelf space for the new inventory they’ll be bringing in for the holidays. You can easily score discounts of 50-75% on much of what you see in the toy aisles. With the holidays right around the corner, now is a great time to get an early head start on your Christmas shopping!
5. Halloween

From candy to costumes, October is the month to buy your Halloween essentials. Try to wait as close to the 31st as possible to buy your trick-or-treating supplies, as retailers will often start discounting their Halloween inventory closer to the actual holiday. A good tip is to wait until the day after Halloween, when big box retailers massively discount their leftover Halloween inventory. You can score bags of candy, Halloween decor, yard inflatables, and costumes for 75-90% off. Buy now for next year, or stock up on candy to last you through the remainder of the year.
Sadly most stores have limited Halloween candy sales as November 1st they usually switch everything out with thanksgiving themed versions.
I agree on the Halloween candy. Another thing that goes on sale in October is back-to-school/college stuff — mainly things that kids would have bought for college dorms — bedding sets, small appliances, pots/pan sets, etc.
I’m an extreme couponer! When you add coupons in with the already big markdowns you can sometimes score things almost free!! Usually whatever’s on sale you can find coupons to match up in the local Sunday papers ( I usually buy many papers for more coupon)😀sas well as some of the coupon inserts that are in the store ads! When you add up the savings it really can be worth the bit of extra time it takes to cut them after you match them with the already big markdowns! I personally love taking advantage of those gift sets right after Christmas! I have at least 70-80 bottles of different body washes, shampoos, etc and I paid under a buck for them ( oil of olay, dove, nexxus brand shampoos )etc etc .Food for thought!
This is GREAT advice! Couponing is such a powerful savings tool, and it’s awesome to hear you are using it with such great success. 🙂
