What to Buy in July

Bethany H.

With summer officially underway, July is the month to save on the things that will keep you outside and enjoying the weather. Between the Fourth of July holiday and prime vacation season, we see big savings on everything from BBQ essentials and ice cream to camping gear and sunscreen. Here are eight things to snag on sale this month!

1. Cookout Must-Haves

The month of July kicks off with the Fourth of July holiday. Find huge savings on everything you’ll need for your big BBQ or family picnic. Burgers, hot dogs, and other meats will be on sale throughout the month, and you can expect to find hamburger and hot dog buns for a dollar or less!

Condiments like ketchup, mustard, and relish will also be discounted; and manufacturers oftentimes provide coupons on these items that you can combine with a store sale to double your savings.

July is also National Ice Cream Month, so almost every grocery store and big box retailer will run huge promotions on ice cream, popsicles, and frozen novelties throughout the month.

Produce like plums, peaches, cantaloupe, and watermelon are all in-season during July.  Find these items on sale frequently throughout the month.

2. Furniture

Many stores and online retailers that sell furniture, such as Kohl’s, Wayfair, and Crate and Barrel, will receive new shipments in August. That means that July is prime time for great discounts to help clear out the old inventory to make room for the new.

3. Sunscreen and Bug Spray

Sunscreen and bug spray – two summer staples! Big box retailers and drug stores will run promotions throughout the month on both, and manufacturer’s will roll out their own coupons, as well.  Stack a coupon with an in-store sale to drop the price as much as 50-60%!

4. Camping Gear

Summertime is camping season, and July is the time to keep an eye out for great deals on everything you need for your outdoor getaway. Stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Academy Sports, Bass Pro Shops, and Cabela’s will offer discounts of 25-50% on camping gear like tents, coolers, and sleeping bags.

5. Designer Clothing

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is held every year towards the end of July.  This year’s sale will begin on July 19. Save 25-50% on designer brands like Ugg, Lucky, Tory Burch, and more.

6. Amazon Prime Day

One of the most anticipated online shopping events of the year is Amazon Prime Day, and it always falls around the middle of July. This year’s Prime Day will be held on July 15 and 16. Prime members can take advantage of thousands of deals, from kitchen appliances to diapers to electronics.

Don’t forget to look for competing sales at other major retailers, as well.  Stores like Walmart and Target, as well as many online retailers, will offer big discounts of their own in an attempt to bring your business their way.

7. Tools

Home improvement stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot stock limited-time items for Father’s Day. July is a great time to snag these leftover tools and gift sets at steep discounts.

8. Paint

Paint usually goes on sale during the summer months, especially around summer holidays like Fourth of July.  Keep an eye on your big box home improvement stores for savings of around 20-35% on paint, stains, and supplies.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
