Searching for deals can at times be a frustrating and tedious process, and there are many ways to go about this adventure. Deal hunting can oftentimes be hit-or-miss, which can lead to people asking whether BrickSeek is accurate or how BrickSeek works.
This “Does BrickSeek Work?” series will look to address many of the common questions that come up during the deal hunting process, and how the tools we provide aim to give you a head start in that process. Equipping yourself with the most information and organizing it in a way that is easy to digest is what we are focused on providing.
The Markdowns by Store feature is an incredibly useful tool when looking for deals within specific local stores. If there are only a few stores you like to frequent, this is a great way to focus in on the deals and availability specific to these locations. Whether you’re on a deal-seeking trip or a quick run to the store for routine essentials, make sure to browse the Markdowns by Store pages before you go.
I often find myself scanning this page before I get out of my car and head into the store. Sometimes I’ll find a deal on detergent or some snack food, or pick up a TV or other electronic that just dropped (whether or not I needed it is another discussion). Other times, there may be nothing I need; but it puts me at ease to know I didn’t miss a deal that I might have walked right past.
Select Markdowns by Store from menu dropdown Enter zip code and view stores within this area View the latest markdowns in that store
Each product on the Markdowns by Store page will show you the New Price, Old Price (the price before the latest drop), MSRP, stock status, and the time it was last discounted. These details should give you enough information to determine whether the deal is right for you. If you need more information about the deal, click on the item to view additional details on the Inventory Checker or BrickSeek Snapshot pages.
With the amount of products out there, we understand it is imperative to give you the easiest way to view deals that are relevant to you. The Markdowns by Store pages do just that. Leave us a comment below to let us know the best deal you’ve found using this feature!

I’m trying to figure out how when I show up to stores they tell me they’ve never had the deals I’m asking about. Product may be on the shelf at other stores but not discounted. It’s very frustrating. Not sure it’s worth paying for this service.
Appreciate the comment and we certainly understand what you are talking about. BrickSeek gets its inventory information directly from the retailer so we only report back what the retailer is reporting to us. Inventory information provided to you via our Inventory Checkers is live and real-time. We do not change or alter this information in any way. If you take the item barcode that BrickSeek provides and have a store employee scan the barcode with their handheld scanner, their scanner will report that they have the same number of items on hand as was reported on BrickSeek, at the same price as was reported on BrickSeek.
With that said, there are many reasons an item may not be found even though it says it should be there. It may have been relocated within the store to a clearance section, or there simply may be an unfortunate inventory count discrepancy. If it is an electronic or higher priced item, they may be locked behind a cage or separate area.
We hope you keep searching for deals and are confident you will start to track them down!
I love it and it’s worth every dime I pay this faithfully
I will tell u why 🇲🇽Because most of the good deals the managers dont pu em out they keep most of it in the back , for themselves I work for walmart thats why I know
If you ask if there are any in the back will someone go look?
This is totally YMMV. Some employees will go above and beyond to help you find an item, while others may be less willing to do so. Always worth asking a department or store manager to help you if you’re encountering trouble locating an item. 🙂
I use this feature daily. I found several Nintendo 3DS Pokemon games for 3 cents each this way 🙂
Glad to hear this feature is able to help you find these games. 3 cents sounds like it may been quite the steal. Great find!
I use the feature daily. The items show up on brickseek and on the store site as in stock, however the items are no where to be found in the store. This is very frustrating.
We understand it can be frustrating when you come up short on a deal time and time again. Make sure to check with employees and store managers to help you scan and track down the item. As previously mentioned, some of the clearance items can be moved around throughout the store and not in the typical place. The numbers we report are directly from the retailers and it is an unfortunate reality that keeping 100% accurate inventory levels is a challenge.
If you have any other questions feel free to let us know. We hope you keep searching and track down some big savings real soon!
Hi I’m new at this . I can’t seem to find Brickseek on my phone . but I do have it on my computer . so when I go into the store do I need to take a pic of the barcode and show the person at the store? How do I do this ?
The BrickSeek website works on your mobile device as well by going to brickseek.com. You will be able to browse deals and check inventory just as you are on desktop. From the inventory checker results page, you may select View Barcode to have the item scanned when in store.
Feel free to let me know if you have any more questions.
Love brickseek so far. I have the paid version so I use the markdowns by store a lot! Here’s 2 things I found out.
Recently brickseek showed a sewing machine for cheap and my local store had 6. Went to the store and the mgr also showed they had 6 but hand no clue where they were. They looked out in the floor and in the back. I later called Walmart.com hoping they could match the store price (which they can’t)..:they told me that they can see the inventory levels for that product at the store and it shows that they have none and that the only place that has them is the warehouse aka Walmart.com. They said the store much have sent them back to the warehouse. So this means that some things (assuming based on the manufacturer or if it’s a high ticket item) they ship back.
Also, I purchased an electronic (found on brickseek) and asked the rep questions on why some things show in stock but can’t be found. They said that it depends on when the mgr closes out and inventories those items out. Usually that happened nightly and then it will be updated in an hr. (Notnsure if that’s true or not). So that could also be the reason y it shows in stock. Each store has their own rules they told me in regards as closing out the sales nightly to update the inventory.
Another thing, I’ve searched for an item everywhere in the store and couldn’t find it. There was none anywhere. Brickseek showed there was some. Long story short, a few weeks later, that item showed up in the up on the clearance isle lol. So who knows where it is.
Lastly, with the electronics, I found some stores keep them behind locked cabinets and some don’t.
I usually ask about a deal that’s good every time i go in there looking for other deals cuz u never know, one employee may have been the one to mark it down and put it away and another one has no clue. Lol
Hope this info helped anyone to who is hunting! Happy hunting!
Also, I’ve found each store kinda has their own rules
Appreciate the comment and glad the site is helping you track down some deals!
I absolutely agree with the comment about the employees putting back inventory items for themselves. I went to find item and all of them were in the managers office. I had to ask for it. It was only 29.99 then. The most current ad is 149.00 I don’t know if it was a misprint or not for the same item but he did sell it to me for 29.99.
Good to see you were able to track these down at the price you saw on BrickSeek. There are certainly hurdles you occasionally may run across, but if you ask the employees nicely or know where to look you can often find them.
Is there a way to find deals not only locally but to all the stores say 100miles away?
You can change the zip code in the Inventory Checker to search stores in any area of the country. 🙂
So sorry to be a bother. But I guess because your store shows it as a clearance doesn’t mean my store here in Missouri is right?
Hi Patty! You are correct — an item that is marked down at one store might be a completely different price at another store just a few minutes down the road. You will want to use the Inventory Checkers to search for an item within your zip code. The results will show you which stores near you carry the item, as well as the price at each store. Please feel free to reach out with any other questions, or you can email our Customer Support at [email protected]. 🙂
When you go to the store and find the item that is on brickseek, do you just go to the register and scan it and the scanned item should read the discounted price already? Or is it a price match type of situation? Are these items just sitting on the shelf and no one knows they are so discounted?
Hey Ashley! There is nothing you need to do when you’ve located the item you’re looking to purchase. The deals we show on our site are regular products that have been discounted by the retailer. There is no price matching or special process you need to go through in order to buy the item for the price we display. The only thing you will need to do is ensure the SKU or UPC on the item matches the item you found on our site. Thanks!
How does Brickseek get the markdowns? Are they when a customer scans the item in store to check the price or are they alerted when markdowns are posted at the store level? What is last seen really mean?
Just curious because I looked up an item number at Lowe’s and it’s on clearance near me but doesn’t pop up when I go to markdowns by store for the same store.
Hi Jenn!
Our system algorithms and processes determine what deals will hit the various deals feeds. Deals you see in the Markdowns by Store and other feeds are timestamped with the date the system first detected that deal (“Added: over a week ago”), as well as the last time our system confirmed it in stock at a nearby store (“Last seen: 5 days ago”).
Overall, our system is very good at finding most markdowns as they occur. There may be times where it does not recognize a certain deal right away or that a particular markdown might not meet the criteria for us to display it as a deal. Our system scans millions of items every day, and finds most deals very quickly. 🙂
How do you use brickseek in store after you have found the item? How do you purchase it for the correct price or does it automatically scan for the sale? I am new to this and would love some tips!
