On December 15, BrickSeek’s Head of Customer Success, John O’Keefe-Myrick, took to our Forums to challenge our BrickSeek members to help out their communities by donating items to their local toy drives. “This is last minute but worth the effort,” he wrote. It was certainly worth the effort, as we had a great deal of participants, many of them posting to our Forums for the first time!
Deal Editor Carrie kicked off the donation post with a photo of her daughter donating to Toys For Tots. John and his daughters quickly followed with some clearance Legos that he found the month before.
Plenty followed suit donating to Toys For Tots and many other great organizations.
Premium Member Twinkltoes11257 wrote, “This is the first year we’ve known about BrickSeek. We started hitting toy clearances in July, anticipating a big need this year because of COVID. Thanks to BrickSeek, we were able to help 3 angel tree babies, donate toys to our police department you drive, provide gifts for a family of 4 with an unforeseen medical issue and a sweet new teenage mom. We still have some left to give away, too!! . . . I’m so glad he’s [2 year old] getting to learn about giving, this Christmas!”
Premium Member angellisa67 organizes a giving tree for her town where she and her sons wrapped over 600 gifts! “I do it all,” she wrote, “applications, master list, create tags, wrap gifts, deliver gifts . . . 143 kids, 55 families.”
BrickSeek Extreme Member Mhaney03 set up a Christmas Mall at church. She wrote, “BrickSeek, the admin, and community that comes with it, man y’all came in clutch in helping me score the deals that would in turn bless so stinking many!! So thank you!!!”
No, Mhaney03, thank YOU! You have taken the tool that we provide and put in an abundance of effort to serve your community. Your generosity shines!
The donations we saw didn’t stop at toys. Extreme Member Dealfinder2020’s sons started their own candle company and donated their earnings to those in need.
Mabrick, also a BrickSeek Extreme Member, donated $140 worth of scrubs to Dell Children’s Medical Center. “[They’re] for our over worked frontliners that are taking care of our precious kids,” she wrote.
Extreme Member imlooloo used BrickSeek to find 120 discounted Butterball turkeys to donate to families in need.
You can view all of our participants’ donations in our forum post.
Did you make any donations this holiday season? We would love to hear about them in the comments!
In honor of Veteran’s Day, we wanted to thank the BrickSeek members (and their loved ones!) who have served or are actively serving, including our own JohnOM! With respect, honor, and gratitude, Happy Veteran’s Day! Thank you for your service!

Amazon’s Prime Day is slated for October 13 and October 14 this year and is sure to offer incredible savings! But other stores are preparing to get in on the action, as well. Yesterday, both Target and Walmart announced their own spectacular savings events.
According to Target’s corporate site, A Bullseye View, they will be kicking off the holiday shopping early this year with Deal Days. Deal Days will be a 2-day event beginning on October 13. It will feature hundreds of thousands of digital deals, making it a worthy competitor to Amazon’s Prime Day.
These deals are just the start to what Target has in store for this holiday season. In Tuesday’s press release, Christina Hennington, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Target said, “By kicking off our holiday deals earlier than ever, offering Black Friday pricing throughout the full month of November and extending our Price Match Guarantee, we’re letting guests know they don’t need to wait or face the crowds to get the best deals, all with no membership fees required.”
In the past, Walmart has also launched deals to rival Prime Day, and this year is no different! Walmart.com will be hosting their “Big Save” event beginning Sunday, October 11 at 7 p.m. EST. The event is set to run through Thursday, October 15 and is promising Black Friday like savings! The Big Save event is online only, featuring low prices on popular items from Walmart like this Pioneer Woman Instant Pot which will be marked down to $49.99. Other deals include electronics, toys, home, beauty, fashion, and more.
Macy’s, Best Buy and Home Depot have all announced plans to start their holiday savings early this year, as well!

Looking for a quick and easy DIY class Valentine’s Day card idea? We’ve got you covered with these A-DOH-ABLE printable Valentines! They are so simple to make, and all you need is card stock, glue or scissors, and 1 oz containers of Play-Doh like this party pack from Target:
Below you can download the FREE PRINTABLE CARDS. These will print with 4 on each page. You will want to print on a heavier weight paper, like card stock.
Cut out each card, and have your child sign their name.
3. Attach Play-Doh
You have 2 options to attach the Play-Doh. You can trace a circle around the bottom of the play-doh container in the center of the heart and cut it out to insert the container. Or, in the spirit of keeping things simple, you can glue the Play-Doh container to the center of the heart. We used hot glue for ours, but glue dots will work too if your kids want to help.
What other fun DIY Valentine ideas have you done? We’d love to hear about them! Let us know in the comments below!

What do you do when you have a passion for saving money and a passion for your family?
You merge those two together and double the fun! This is exactly what member Tiniya Mills did when she found out that her son and daughter-in-law were expecting a baby. She threw an epic Toy Story Baby Shower while saving BIG –thanks to BrickSeek!
Tiniya’s daughter-in-law, India, knew that she wanted a Toy Story themed shower; and Tiniya made her vision come to life. Colorful balloons were hung from the ceiling, lining the entire room. Themed table cloths and backdrops were draped across the tables and down the walls. Character toys and baby products were displayed on boxes, spelling out the baby’s name. We think she absolutely knocked it out of the park! Maybe even “To Infinity and Beyond!”
Over the course of 9 months, Tiniya used BrickSeek to collect 52 discounted items to use for decor and gifts.
At the end of the shower, Tiniya was even surprised with a gift of her own. Can you guess what it was?
That’s right — grandbaby #2 is due in May; and we cannot wait to see that baby shower!
With four boys of her own, the youngest being only 21, Tiniya didn’t think she was ready for grand babies yet; but she couldn’t be happier and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Congratulations to the entire family!

BrickSeek has long been the definitive Macy’s inventory checker (among many other popular retailers). Recently, however, we were able to introduce Macy’s support for some of our other deal finding tools, including Markdowns by Store, Today’s Markdowns, and Local Markdown Feed! We wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate by giving you a few tips on how to make the most out of your next trip to your local Macy’s.
What is Last Act?
Macy’s refers to their clearance items as Last Act. You can find steep discounts off of the original price by shopping these deals. Depending on your location, Last Act items can be found in individual departments and/or in a storewide Last Act section. They often include many name brand items, as well! Like other retailers, their clearance items are marked down in stages.
Know Your Tags
The Macy’s markdown schedule can be quite predictable, if you know what to look for. Both the color of price tags and the prices themselves can be used to determine whether an item will be marked down again or if this is the lowest price for which the item will be sold.
Blue ticketed items often have a discount ranging from around 50% – 75% off and will always have a price ending in the number 3 . This is a great deal if you love the item; but if you can manage to wait, you will likely be seeing another even deeper discount on that item before too long.
Yellow tags are used to indicate a final markdown, which means items with this tag will not be marked down again. Their prices will always end in the number 6 and typically come with discounts of more than 70% off. Notice the edges of the blue tags just barely visible behind the yellow tags? This perfectly illustrates how these items went from MSRP, to having a blue tag, to their final markdown price as indicated by the yellow tag.
Lastly, if you find an item with a white ticket in a Last Act section, it is a recent price change. The price will actually be lower than what the tag shows; it just hasn’t been changed yet. You can take the item to a price check kiosk to check the current clearance price. BrickSeek will also reflect the correct price.
One Last Thing
Something to remember about Last Act items is that their price is so low that Macy’s will not accept coupons on them. You also only have up to 30 days to return any Last Act purchases.
Have you heard about Walmart’s first-ever car seat trade-in event? Now Walmart (along with Target and other retailers) is doing their part to keep car seat waste out of our landfills. Walmart has partnered with TerraCycle, who will recycle 100% of car seats traded in.
The event, which will run from Sept. 16-30, is part of Walmart’s “Best of Baby Month.” Car Seats that are outgrown, expired, or have been in an accident can be very dangerous. Take your old car seat to the Customer Service desk at a participating Walmart, and you will receive a $30 gift card to use toward a new baby purchase! There is a limit of 2 gift cards per household, and booster seats are not eligible for trade-in.
Click here to learn more and to find out which stores near you are participating. Will you take advantage of this trade-in opportunity? Let us know in the comments below how you’ll spend your $30 gift card!
September is Baby Safety Month, and that means that Target’s ever popular Car Seat Trade in Event will be back!
Target has once again partnered with Waste Management to bring this event to almost all of their 1800+ locations. The Car Seat Trade In Event begins on September 3rd and runs through the 13th. During this period, you can bring in any old car seat and in exchange, Target will give you a 20% off coupon good on select baby gear (including car seats and strollers)!
This is a great opportunity to recycle expired, crashed, and out grown seats. Waste Management will then turn the seats into new products like carpet padding, plastic buckets, and steel beams.
Even if you don’t need a coupon for baby gear, this is a great way to recycle your old seats; and I’m sure you can find someone who will gladly use the 20% off!
Do you plan to trade in a seat this year? Have you participated during a past event? What will you use your 20% off coupon on? Let us know in the comments below!

The discount is also valid for teachers who work in daycare centers, early childhood education learning centers, home schools, and more.

In addition to great teacher savings, Target will also roll out their new brand “More than Magic” on July 13. This tween-focused lifestyle brand for girls will carry sizes ranging from sizes 4-16!
